SCIENTIFIC NAME(s)
Scyllarides squammosus
SPECIES NAME(s)
Blunt slipper lobster
Little is know about the population dynamics of the species. In Madagascar, blunt slipper lobsters are locally known as "Razanora mena". They are captured by the lobster fishery, among other lobster species, mainly using pots (SEED Madagascar 2018). The lobster fishery is maneged at national level, including a minimum landing size (MLS) of 20cm, a national closed season (January to March, inclusive), and a prohibition on the landing of berried females (Savage 2021). Local management initiatives are being developed.
