The stock structure is unknown (Hernández et al. 2011). Giant jackknife (locally named "Huepo") is not yet assessed in the Magallanes Chilean region (previously XII) (Techeira et al. 2018)(SUBPESCA 2019).
Assessment units for this species exist in northern Chilean areas: Corral Bay, Arauco Gulf, and Ancud Bay.
