The Pacific halibut (Hippoglossus stenolepis) resource in the IPHC Convention Area is modelled as a single stock extending throughout the NE Pacific from northern California to the Aleutian Islands and Bering Sea. The Pacific halibut is managed by the IPHC (International Pacific Halibut Commission) since 1923, where mortality limits for each 8 IPHC regulatory fishing areas are set each year.
