The Scup (Stenotomus chyrsops) stock status in the NW Atlantic is currently known to be not overfishing with overfishing not occurring (NOAA, 2023). The stock distribution and identification is managed jointly by the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council (MAFMC) and Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC). The management unit is defined as all scup from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina northeast to the US-Canada border (ASMFC, 2020).
