Pacific ocean perch is assessed and managed as a single unit in the US Gulf of Alaska (GOA), but the stock structure of this species is still not fully understood (Hanselman et al., 2012; Kamin et al., 2013; Hulson et al., 2014). Some recent studies indicate a finer scale stock structure exists within the Gulf of Alaska (e.g., Palof et al., 2011; Kamin et al., 2013). Research is underway to clarify genetic structure of this species and its relationship to population dynamics (Hulson et al., 2014).
