Several stock identification methods suggest the existence of either three or four stock units within Patagonian toothfish’s distribution:
- South American, either including or not the
- Malvinas/Falkland Islands;
- South Georgia Islands and
- Indian Ocean Islands (DO-UC, 2008).
Although the Peruvian, Chilean and Argentinean coastal distributions likely constitute a single stock, each is managed independently. This profile describes the Chilean fishery within its EEZ.
