The stock structure of greater argentine is not known, but life history studies indicate that the Icelandic distribution (ICES Division Va) of the species might constitute a separate stock. The stock structure throughout the remainder of greater argentine’s Northeast Atlantic distribution has not yet been determined and genetic studies over the entire distribution area are needed (ICES, 2008a).
